The Philippines is a Southeast Asian state located in the geography to the west of the Pacific Ocean. The country consists of 7,641 islands and islets. However, there are three main geographical landmasses that make up the country. These are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The capital of the country is Manila, while the most populous city is Quezon City.

Although the beaches are famous, it is of course possible to find more. Away from the beaches, forests, mountains, volcanoes and hidden caves ripe for exploration await its visitors. The islands’ volcanic nature is unmistakably clear, natural hot springs gush in the Philippines, and the pyramid peaks of vibrant volcanoes like Mount Mayon appeal to hikers who don’t mind living dangerously.

This is not a country with dozens of fake cultural spectacles for tourists, and the islands’ vibrantly colorful festivals (of which there are many) are predominantly targeted at locals. That’s why it’s up to individual visitors to start conversations and discover a country where East meets West and traditional culture meets the modern world in a riot of color and confetti.
